Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has highlighted key achievements of his administration in infrastructure, security, and development as he addressed members of the Urhobo Progress Union America (UPUA) during their 33rd Annual Convention at the Westin Calgary Airport Hotel, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Represented by his Chief Adviser, Senator Ighoyota Amori, the Governor commended the Urhobo sons and daughters in the diaspora for their commitment to unity and cultural preservation. He praised the convention theme, “Embracing Change through Unity,” describing it as a timely reminder that collective effort is vital for growth.
“We are building roads, schools, hospitals and other key infrastructure to improve the lives of our people,” Oborevwori said, citing the completed Asaba–Ughelli Highway as a landmark project that has eased travel between Warri and the state capital. “We are also working with security agencies and local vigilante groups to protect lives and property. These efforts are already boosting investor confidence, particularly in real estate, agriculture, healthcare and education.”
The Governor called On the diaspora community to key into the development strides at home by investing their skills, ideas, and resources. “Your contributions can help grow our economy, create jobs, mentor our youth and promote our culture,” he urged.
Reassuring that his administration is inclusive and open to all, regardless of political background or location, Oborevwori stressed that “Delta belongs to all of us, and we must build it together.”
He congratulated the leadership and members of UPUA for sustaining the vision of unity, peace, and progress and wished them a successful 33rd annual convention.
