Former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and Delta Central Senatorial District candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has called for deliberate government investment in skills development and infrastructure to create more high-value employment opportunities for Nigerians.

Omo-Agege said unemployed and underemployed Nigerians deserve greater access to quality jobs, stressing that government must pursue policies that bring economic opportunities closer to the people.

According to him, Nigeria’s economic growth must be inclusive, with every citizen given a fair opportunity to benefit from the country’s economic progress.

“We owe it to unemployed and underemployed Nigerians to connect them with high-value jobs by bringing those jobs to our people,” Omo-Agege said.

He advocated increased investment in training, professional certification and registered apprenticeship programmes, particularly for Nigerians without university degrees, to enable them to acquire the skills required in increasingly specialised professions.

The former Senate Deputy President also called for increased federal spending on infrastructure, arguing that such investment would stimulate economic growth while creating employment opportunities in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Omo-Agege maintained that expanding infrastructure development would not only provide immediate jobs for out-of-work Nigerians but also strengthen the foundation for sustained economic growth.

He stressed that every Nigerian willing to work should have the opportunity to earn a living and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.
