Member representing Isoko South II Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Ferguson Onwo, has called on the Isoko ethnic nationality to continue to support the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing it as a people-centred government committed to the welfare and development of all Deltans.
Hon. Onwo made the call during the 2025 Conference of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) held at the Isoko Unity House in Oleh, where he also presented a comprehensive scorecard of his legislative and developmental interventions across communities in Isoko South II constituency within his two years and six months in the 8th Delta State House of Assembly.
Addressing members of the apex body of the Isoko nation, the Lawmaker emphasized the need to sustain peace, unity and harmonious coexistence across Isoko nation, noting that peace remains a critical component of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda and a fundamental requirement for sustainable development.
ONWO who is the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Health, assured the gathering of his unwavering commitment to grassroots development and effective representation.
He explained that his tenure has been marked by the execution of several constituency projects as well as the strategic influence of major government interventions across communities.
According to the Lawmaker, in Erohwa community, he facilitated the rehabilitation and improvement of the water supply scheme, installation of solar-powered lights, construction of six blocks of classrooms at Ogbobie Primary School, and the furnishing of the newly constructed classrooms to enhance learning conditions for pupils.
In Umeh community, Onwo listed the rehabilitation of the water project and installation of solar-powered lights, while also influencing the rehabilitation of Umeh internal roads and the Umeh Bridge.
According to him, he further attracted the resurfacing of failed portions of Umeh road and the ongoing rehabilitation of six blocks of classrooms at Umeh Primary School.
For Igbide community, Hon. Onwo said he facilitated the rehabilitation and improvement of water supply schemes at Egbo, Oteri and Igbide towns, while also influencing the construction of the Igbide–Olomoro road, a critical infrastructure linking communities and boosting economic activities.
In Enhwe community, the Isoko South 11 Representative, highlighted the rehabilitation and improvement of the water supply scheme, the fencing of Okpolo-Enhwe Primary School to improve safety and learning conditions, and influencing in the construction of the Olomoro–Enhwe road to his credit.
The lawmaker also detailed interventions in Aviara community, including the rehabilitation and improvement of water supply schemes at Aviara, Araya and Edherie, as well as the installation of solar-powered lights at Edherie, Ukpude and Egbeme.
He further facilitated the construction of four blocks of classrooms with an office at Otuwoma Primary School, Ewokpaka community in Aviara clan, and ensured the furnishing of the classrooms to support quality education delivery.
In Olomoro community, Hon. Onwo reeled out several projects, including the rehabilitation and improvement of the water supply scheme and the supply of pupils’ desks to Olomoro Comprehensive School, Owholomu Primary School, Akokotu Primary School and Udueni Secondary School.
He also completed the rehabilitation of Akpotu Lane, influenced and completed the construction of the Olomoro–Igbide road, and attracted the ongoing construction of a six-classroom block at Udueni Grammar School as well as the ongoing rehabilitation of a six-classroom block at Akokotu Primary School.
Other interventions include the installation of solar-powered lights, additional supply of pupils’ desks to Owholemu Primary School, and the upcoming construction of the Olomoro Civic Centre.
In Uzere community, the Legislator disclosed that he facilitated the construction of a three-classroom block at Eni Primary School, influenced the installation of solar-powered street lights, and attracted the rehabilitation of the Uzere–Asaba Ase road.
He explained that he also joined in influencing the construction of the Uzere–Patani road and ensured the reconstruction of three blocks of classrooms at Uzere Primary School.
Beyond infrastructure and education, Hon. Onwo highlighted key interventions in the health sector as Chairman House Committee on Health, noting that his office influenced the renovation of various health centres across Isoko nation and facilitated the employment of 26 nurses and seven doctors to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation and called on the Isoko people to remain united and supportive of Governor Oborevwori’s administration, stressing that sustained peace and collaboration would accelerate development across Isoko North and Isoko South and Delta State at large.
Onwo was thereafter inaugurated alongside other notable sons and daughters of Isoko nation as members of Isoko Political Strategic Action Committee, IPSAC.
