The conferment of a Doctorate Degree on High Chief Government Ekpomupolo, Tompolo, by Edwin Clark University has prompted renewed commendations from across the country. Adding his voice, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, H.E. Dcn. Barr. Kingsley B. Otuaro, described the honour as a clear endorsement of Tompolo’s long standing commitment to peace, development, and empowerment in the Niger Delta.
In a statement issued on Monday, Otuaro said the recognition did not come as a surprise, noting that Tompolo’s influence has been defined by consistent action, steady leadership, and a strong focus on community upliftment. He stressed that the award reflects years of service that have shaped regional conversations and created opportunities for countless people.
According to Otuaro, Tompolo belongs to a select group of Nigerians whose contributions command respect regardless of official titles. He added that the honorary degree reinforces the value of investing in human capital, defending cultural heritage, and standing for justice in a time when such qualities are increasingly rare.
Otuaro expressed confidence that the recognition will further expand Tompolo’s influence and energize young people across the Niger Delta to pursue purpose driven leadership.
“Congratulations to my brother, High Chief Government Ekpomupolo. This award is well deserved, and greater heights still await him,” he stated.
Analysts say the doctorate strengthens Tompolo’s status as a key figure in the nation’s socio political landscape. For many observers, the honour affirms his ongoing contributions to stability, cultural identity, and economic growth in the Niger Delta.
