Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, recently led the state in a grand Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City, as part of activities marking the 2025 yuletide season.

The event, hosted by the Edo State Government, brought together residents, religious leaders, and top government officials for an evening of worship, reflection, and celebration, featuring soul-lifting carols and scriptural readings that underscored the message of peace, unity, and goodwill.

Governor Okpebholo delivered a lesson from Psalm 9:3–7, reflecting on God’s faithfulness and righteousness.

He urged Edo people to continue placing their trust in God while working together to sustain peace, harmony, and progress across the state.

The Governor reassured residents that Edo State remains safe and secure for all, emphasizing his administration’s strong commitment to peace, inclusive governance, and the protection of lives and property.

He noted that the season of Christmas offers an opportunity for renewed hope, unity, and collective responsibility in building a stronger Edo State.

Also speaking at the event, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, described Christmas as a season of love, sharing, and selfless service, encouraging citizens to embrace values that promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony.

The festival featured inspiring performances by choristers from various churches across the state, whose melodious renditions created a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere, drawing admiration from guests and worshippers alike.

The evening was further enlivened by a raffle draw, which rewarded several attendees with exciting prizes, adding colour and excitement to the celebration.

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was widely described as a success, reinforcing Governor Okpebholo’s message of faith, unity, and peace, and serving as a fitting prelude to the Christmas celebrations in Edo State.
