Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro, has urged voters in Delta Central Senatorial District to support the re-election of Senator Ede Dafinone in the 2027 general elections, saying the district cannot afford to be politically disconnected from the government at the centre.
Oboro made the call on Saturday, October 3, 2026, when Dafinone, who represents Delta Central in the Senate, visited her residence as part of his consultations with political leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former federal lawmaker pledged her support for Dafinone’s second-term bid and called on her political supporters across the eight local government areas of Delta Central—Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Uvwie—to mobilise support for the senator and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oboro argued that the political and developmental interests of Delta Central would be better served by maintaining representation within the party controlling the Federal Government.
According to her, such alignment could strengthen the district’s prospects of attracting greater federal attention, infrastructure and development opportunities.
She therefore urged the electorate to approach the 2027 elections with what she described as the broader interests of Delta Central and the Urhobo nation in mind.
Dafinone, during the visit, said he was in Oboro’s residence to formally seek her endorsement and support for his second-term ambition, while also soliciting her assistance in strengthening grassroots mobilisation across the senatorial district.
The senator emphasised the importance of unity among APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters, stressing the need for collective efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
The consultation is part of Dafinone’s ongoing engagements with political leaders and stakeholders across Delta Central as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oboro, who previously represented the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, remains an influential political stakeholder in Delta Central. She was among political leaders and stakeholders reported at an APC mobilisation event in Uvwie in April 2026 and has also publicly congratulated Dafinone on his emergence as chairman of a Senate committee.
