A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun John Oguma, has urged Deltans across political divides to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027, insisting that his administration deserves a second term based on its performance.
Oguma made the call on Sunday while speaking with journalists, describing the governor’s MORE Agenda as a transformative initiative that has brought development to different parts of the state, from Asaba to the riverine communities.
He maintained that the visible progress recorded under Oborevwori’s administration over the past three years had justified calls for continuity, adding that the governor had demonstrated a commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
“Oborevwori is a man of his word. He promised MORE, and he is giving us MORE. From Warri to Asaba, Ughelli to Agbor, you can see work going on. This is a governor who understands the pains of the people,” Oguma said.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements in the health sector, the APC chieftain said Delta State had expanded access to medical services through the provision of advanced diagnostic equipment and the renovation of healthcare facilities.
“For the first time, Delta now has MRI machines in three senatorial districts — Asaba, Warri and Oghara.
“We have CT scans, radiology labs and dialysis machines. Over 150 primary healthcare centres have been renovated. We recently got a $400,000 grant from the Gates Foundation, and over three million Deltans are now covered by health insurance, the highest in Nigeria,” he said.
On infrastructure, Oguma cited ongoing flyover projects in Effurun and Warri, the Orere Bridge project, the Ughelli-Asaba road dualisation and other completed and ongoing road projects across the state’s 25 local government areas.
He added that the administration’s infrastructure drive had contributed to the changing outlook of Warri and other urban centres in the state.
Oguma also described Oborevwori as a pan-Delta governor who treats people from different ethnic groups fairly, regardless of their political affiliations. He praised the governor’s humility, accessibility and fear of God, saying these qualities had strengthened his appeal across the state.
Looking ahead to the 2027 governorship election, Oguma said the state should maintain its current development trajectory rather than risk a change in leadership.
“In 2027, we will not experiment. We will not go backward. We need continuity. We need Sheriff Oborevwori to finish what he started.
“I am calling on all Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Isokos and Aniomas to support him 100 per cent,” he said.
He further urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and intensify grassroots mobilisation across polling units to secure victory for the governor in the 2027 election.
“Delta is working, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is working. Let us work for him,” Oguma added.
