Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the massive turnout at the party’s mobilisation rally in Esan land indicates growing support for the ruling party.

Okpebholo made the remarks on Wednesday during the APC’s grassroots mobilisation tour of Esan South-East and Esan North-East Local Government Areas, where he urged party supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s success at the polls.

The governor, who expressed appreciation to the supporters for their impressive turnout at Ewohimi in Esan South-East, said the reception had strengthened his confidence that the APC could achieve its target of 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Edo State.

He described Tinubu as the party’s leader and father, stressing that continued support from party faithful remained crucial to the success of the President’s administration. He also assured supporters that the party would return to celebrate its electoral victory after the elections.

The governor called on the people to vote for Tinubu’s re-election, Hon. Odianosen Okojie, the APC candidate for the House of Representatives, and Joseph Ikpea, the party’s candidate for the Edo Central Senatorial District.

In Uromi, headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area, Okpebholo assured residents whose properties had been marked for demolition to facilitate the construction of the Uromi Expressway that they would receive compensation.

“Uromi, all those houses blocking the road construction, we have released money for compensation. The president is working, and we are going to pay him back with 2.5 million votes,” the governor said.

He also claimed that cult-related killings and kidnapping had ended in Edo State, while praising Tinubu for making more funds available to state governments. According to him, the President’s policies and support for Edo State justify another term in office.

The Edo State Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Chief Festus Ebea, described the turnout as evidence of the APC’s acceptance among men, women and youths in Esan South-East.

Ebea expressed optimism that the party’s candidates would secure substantial votes in the 2027 elections, commending Okpebholo for his mobilisation efforts and continued strengthening of the party’s grassroots structures.

Similarly, the Edo State APC Chairman, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, praised the supporters for their participation, noting that political leaders must prioritise the welfare of the people regardless of the reasons individuals choose to participate in politics.

He cited ongoing road construction projects as evidence of the state government’s performance and urged residents to support leaders whose programmes and policies deliver tangible benefits to the people.

Tenebe also called on voters to support Tinubu and other APC candidates, emphasising the need for unity within the party. He urged the electorate to assess candidates’ records and backgrounds carefully before making their choices, while expressing support for Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District.

The statement was signed by Dr Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, and dated Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
