Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, after discovering a pistol concealed inside a loaf of bread.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Asaba, the state capital.
According to Edafe, the incident occurred on November 6, 2025, when officers of the Rapid Response Squad carried out a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.
“During the search, the operatives observed the suspect’s suspicious behavior, prompting a thorough inspection. A fabricated Beretta pistol was found carefully hidden inside a loaf of bread,” Edafe stated.
The 24-year old suspect was immediately apprehended, and the recovered firearm was secured as an exhibit. Police investigations are ongoing to determine his possible involvement in recent armed robbery and kidnapping cases within Asaba and its environs.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the discovery as evidence of the Command’s proactive, intelligence-led policing.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rooting out criminal elements across the state and urged residents to remain alert and share credible information with law enforcement, assuring that all reports will be treated confidentially.
