President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on his re-election, describing the victory as “an affirmation of visionary leadership and good governance.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo the winner of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election after he swept all 21 local government areas of the state.
In a statement personally signed by the President and released on Sunday, Tinubu commended the people of Anambra, the security agencies, and INEC for ensuring a peaceful and credible poll.
He urged Soludo to be “magnanimous in victory” and pledged closer collaboration between the Federal Government and Anambra State for continued progress and development.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu said.
The President noted that Soludo’s overwhelming victory made him the third governor in Anambra’s political history to win a second term.
Tinubu praised the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for a credible election, charging the commission to sustain and improve its standards in future polls.
Reflecting on his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration, Tinubu commended the governor’s innovative approach to governance.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources,” he stated.
The President added that the projects he commissioned during his visit underscored the governor’s commitment to sustainable development.
“That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind,” Tinubu concluded.
