The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Edo State, on Wednesday organised a capacity building programme focused on leadership and efficient communication for its staff members.
The training, held at the Collation Centre on May 7, 2026, attracted the participation of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Heads of Departments (HODs), Electoral Officers (EOs), and other members of staff.
In his opening remarks, the Resident Electoral Commissioner encouraged staff members to cultivate a strong reading culture, stressing that continuous learning remains essential for improved knowledge, enhanced job performance, and effective service delivery in the civil service.
The capacity building session featured lectures from senior officials of the commission who delivered presentations on key aspects of leadership and communication.
Speaking on Effective Leadership, the Head of Department, ICT, Engr. Akan Lawrence, highlighted the qualities required for impactful leadership and the need for officers to lead with responsibility, integrity, and professionalism.
Also speaking, the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Dr. Samuel Sunday, delivered a lecture on Efficient Communication, where he emphasized the importance of clear, timely, and effective communication in achieving organizational goals and maintaining a productive work environment.
Participants at the programme described the training as insightful and impactful, noting that the session provided practical knowledge aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and improving communication effectiveness among staff members.
The programme forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism, efficiency, and productivity within the commission.
