Senator Ned Nwoko has dismissed viral online claims that he married Nollywood actress Regina Daniels when she was 17, describing the allegations as “entirely untrue and misleading.”
In a detailed post shared on social media, the lawmaker presented what he called the “true account” of events, insisting that Regina Daniels was 21 years old when they first met.
According to Nwoko, he asked Regina her age at the time of their first meeting, and she presented her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter’s card, which showed her date of birth as October 10, 1998.

The senator said he has kept the voter’s card in his possession ever since and included what he described as a copy of it in his online statement.
Nwoko added that, based on “verifiable records,” their marriage took place six years ago, which would make Regina 27 years old today.
He urged the public to disregard claims that he married Regina when she was a minor, pointing to a BBC interview previously granted by Regina’s mother after the marriage as further proof of the timeline.
“The facts are verifiable and indisputable,” Nwoko wrote, while also advising the public to treat any personal claims made by Regina with caution, citing what he described as her “ongoing mental-health and drug-rehabilitation issues.”
