Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has urged Northern leaders to unite and confront the worsening security and socioeconomic crises threatening the region. Speaking at a joint meeting of Northern Governors and Traditional Rulers in Kaduna, he condemned recent kidnappings and renewed terrorist attacks, warning that insecurity has become a national threat.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stressed that poverty, illiteracy and weak infrastructure fuel the crisis, calling for major investments in education, human capital and economic opportunities. He described the high number of out-of-school children as a “stain on our conscience” and renewed support for state policing.

He appealed for collaboration among political, traditional, religious and security institutions, insisting that restoring peace must take precedence over politics. Kaduna Governor Uba Sani and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III also called for unity, innovation and steadfast action. A communique with immediate and long-term solutions is expected from the meeting.
