President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is meeting behind closed doors with Nigeria’s newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in what sources describe as a strategic security briefing.
Although the official agenda has not been made public, insider reports indicate that the discussions focus on overhauling Nigeria’s security architecture, improving inter-agency collaboration, and setting fresh operational priorities for the armed forces.
The meeting comes on the heels of President Tinubu’s recent approval of a new lineup of Service Chiefs — a decision the Presidency says reflects his commitment to strengthening professionalism, efficiency, and accountability within the military.
Those in attendance include the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
Today’s high-level engagement is expected to define the new military leadership’s roadmap, with emphasis on counter-terrorism, internal security, and enhanced synergy among the armed services.
