Davido Calls for Calm as Uncle, Osun Governor Adeleke, Dumps PDP

Afrobeats superstar Davido (David Adeleke) has reacted swiftly to the resignation of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, as governor of Osun State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On his X page on Tuesday, Davido simply wrote: “Jeje…”, a short message widely interpreted as a call for calm and restraint amid the unfolding political turbulence.

Governor Adeleke’s resignation — formally tendered in a letter dated November 4, 2025 to the Ward 2 chairman in Ede North — cited the ongoing crisis within the PDP national leadership as the reason for his departure. He expressed gratitude to the party for the platform that facilitated his election first as a senator, then as governor under the PDP.

The resignation letter’s public release on Monday triggered shockwaves across the state’s political landscape, especially with the 2026 governorship primary originally slated for Tuesday now thrown into confusion. The state PDP announced the primary would be postponed because the governor–now a prospective candidate for re-election — has withdrawn from the party.

By posting “Jeje…”, Davido appears to be signalling for patience and calm as the political drama unfolds — perhaps urging supporters and observers not to overreact while the implications of the resignation play out.
