In my capacity as Chairman of the Edo State Boundary Committee, I led other members of the committee on a courtesy visit to the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom.

The purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the committee to the Palace and brief His Royal Majesty on our activities since our inauguration by the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

During the visit, we informed the revered monarch of the ongoing efforts to resolve boundary disputes involving Delta, Kogi, and Ondo States. We also disclosed that the committee is currently handling over 180 petitions relating to intra-state boundary issues—some of which are duplicates of petitions earlier submitted to the Palace by affected communities.

We assured His Royal Majesty that the committee is fully committed to working closely with the Benin Palace to achieve lasting and peaceful solutions to all boundary-related concerns. I further emphasized that under our watch, not an inch of Edo land will be ceded to any neighbouring state.

On behalf of the committee, I expressed our gratitude to His Royal Majesty for the warm reception, wise counsel, and prayers offered for the success of our work.

Oba ghato kpere!… Ise!!!

Hon. Dennis Idahosa
