The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reaffirmed the state legislature’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders in advancing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.

The Speaker made the statement while playing host to a non‑governmental pressure group, the “Coalition of Academics for Rt  Hon  Sheriff  Oborevwori”, in his office at the Assembly complex, Asaba, the state capital.

Receiving the group, Rt  Hon Guwor called on Deltans, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnicity or association, to throw their weight behind the MORE mantra of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration who has shown great interest in progressing the state and its citizens.

The Speaker said that socio‑economic development of any society should be a collective responsibility and stressed that Governor Oborevwori has performed beyond expectations.

He commended the group for its initiative in supporting the Governor’s vision and leadership and said that, given the personalities of its members, including former Commissioner for Environment and later Works, Omordi  George  Ugbomah, he is optimistic they will add value to the state’s good‑governance goals.

Guwor expressly enjoined members of the group to leverage their positions as academics in spreading the message of hope and the good works of Rt Hon  Oborevwori across the nooks and crannies of the state and beyond.

He said “I want to thank you profusely for gathering together to partner with the state government in advancing the Renewed Hope for MORE agenda of our dear Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori. It is not about you nor the Governor, but about the state.

“For us in the Delta State House of Assembly, we work in synergy with other arms of government to ensure the overall good of Deltans. I want to assure you that we will work closely with you, because, as legislators, all we do here is see how we can change the narrative and ensure our people benefit from government policies and programmes.

“As Speaker, I can tell you convincingly that the State Governor is doing wonderfully well and deserves commendation”, the Speaker stressed.

Earlier, the group’s coordinator, Prof. Lawrence Omo‑Aghoja, told the Speaker that they had come to appreciate his dynamic, ebullient, charismatic, unparalleled and exemplary leadership in the State Assembly.

They lauded the synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state and called for its sustainability.

The group affirmed its strong support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his extraordinary leadership and strides in governing the state.
