The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims of political bias in its operations, insisting that the agency remains strictly apolitical in the discharge of its statutory duties.

The anti-graft agency was responding to allegations by a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who claimed that the revocation of his bail was linked to his attendance at a political gathering in Kebbi State.

In a response, the EFCC maintained that its actions are guided solely by the law and the terms of bail granted to suspects, not by political considerations or affiliations. The commission stressed that investigations and enforcement measures are carried out in line with established legal procedures and conditions set by the courts.

The EFCC further clarified that any decision relating to bail revocation is based on alleged violations of bail terms and ongoing investigative requirements, rather than participation in political activities.

Reaffirming its mandate, the commission said it remains committed to combating economic and financial crimes without fear or favour, and urged the public to disregard insinuations suggesting political interference in its operations.
