Residents of Ibrede community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State may soon heave a sigh of relief as the Delta State Government has announced that the state was ready to reconstruct the Igbuku–Ibrede Road and other roads in the state.
The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, while briefing journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Aniagwu explained that the approval for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of key roads across the state was in line with the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to accelerating development and improving the quality of life of Deltans.
He noted that the approvals also covered other critical infrastructure projects, including erosion control measures and the extension of energy supply, particularly in the Udu axis, to enhance both industrial and domestic power needs.
The commissioner, who was flanked by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sunny Ekedayen; the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Projects and Policies, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika; and the Executive Assistant on New Media, Mr. Felix Ofou, stressed that the roads approved for intervention were of strategic importance to the affected communities.
Responding to questions from journalists on government plans and determination to reconstruct the Igbuku–Ibrede Road in Ndokwa East and the Ofagbe–Ovrode–Elu Road in Isoko North Local Government Area, considering their critical nature and strategic, Aniagwu appealed to residents to exercise patience, assuring them of the government’s resolve to deliver on the projects.
According to him, “The government is determined to deliberately intervene to support economic activities and improve living conditions in our communities.”
Aniagwu also disclosed that Governor Oborevwori had signed the N1.7 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, adding that more than 70 per cent of the budget was earmarked for capital expenditure, with a strong focus on infrastructure development.
He assured that the Oborevwori administration would ensure balanced development across all parts of the state, noting that Ibrede community would not be left out as the government continues to implement its development agenda.
The commissioner urged residents of the state to continue supporting the governor to enable him fully deliver on his MORE Agenda for the benefit of all Deltans.
