An education advocate and social media commentator, Teacher Chigozie, has highlighted key factors that influence parents’ decisions to recommend schools to others, emphasizing that satisfied parents remain the most effective form of school marketing.
In a post shared on her official Facebook page, Teacher Chigozie argued that while many schools invest heavily in advertising and promotional campaigns, genuine recommendations from parents often have a greater impact on enrollment and institutional growth.
According to her, schools that consistently meet or exceed parents’ expectations naturally earn their trust and become beneficiaries of positive word-of-mouth referrals.
She identified quality teaching as the most important factor, noting that parents may initially be attracted by a school’s physical appearance but ultimately remain because of their children’s academic progress, communication skills, confidence and overall development.
Teacher Chigozie also stressed the importance of excellent customer service, saying parents appreciate schools where they are treated with respect, communicated with professionally and attended to promptly whenever concerns arise.
Other factors highlighted include strong student discipline, effective communication between schools and parents, a safe learning environment, and the professionalism displayed by teachers and other staff members.
According to her, parents are more likely to recommend schools where students are well-behaved, properly guided and taught within a secure and supportive environment.
She further noted that genuine care for students’ academic, emotional and character development plays a significant role in building long-term trust between schools and families.
The educator also identified consistency in standards and the ability to resolve problems quickly as essential ingredients for maintaining a positive reputation.
“Parents become frustrated when schools are inconsistent. Consistency creates reliability,” She stated.
Teacher Chigozie added that while no school is perfect, parents tend to appreciate institutions that listen to complaints, communicate honestly and take swift action to address challenges.
She concluded by encouraging school administrators to focus on delivering results rather than making promises, arguing that schools that consistently exceed expectations often enjoy the strongest support from parents.
According to her, the most valuable endorsement a school can receive is a recommendation from a satisfied parent who is confident about the future of their child.
“A school’s greatest advertisement is not a billboard, a flyer or a social media post. It is a parent who says, ‘You should consider this school. They are doing a great job,’” he wrote.
The post has sparked discussions among educators, parents and school administrators on strategies for improving school quality and strengthening parent-school relationships.
