Breaking:NHIA Launches Neonatal Service; Over 14,000 Women Have Been Treated

The National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, has launched a neonatal service  as part of its Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care Programme in Nigeria.

 

Director General of NHIA, Dr. Kelechi Ohiri, says the programme which has already been piloted in Lagos will be expanded to other states and it aims to expand health services to vulnerable people, particularly newborns and mothers.

The launch in Kano witnessed Over 14,000 women and were treated under the maternal component of the programme with about 40% of beneficiaries from Kano.

 

The NHIA says independent external verifiers will provide oversight to ensure accountability.
