The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EdoBTVET), Barrister (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, has charged staff of Usugbenu Technical College, Irrua, to uphold professionalism, discipline, and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

Barr. Briggs gave the charge during a monitoring visit to the institution, which she said was part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to assess academic activities and ensure the maintenance of sustainable standards across technical and vocational institutions in Edo State.

According to her, the initiative aligns with EdoBTVET’s mandate to deliver quality technical education capable of equipping students with relevant, market-ready skills.

During the visit, the EdoBTVET chairman inspected key facilities including classrooms, the catering workshop, and administrative offices, in order to evaluate the level of teaching, learning, and institutional management.

She urged staff to demonstrate renewed dedication, effective supervision, and a positive work ethic, noting that these are critical to achieving the Board’s objectives and improving learning outcomes.

“Effective teaching, proper supervision, and strong professional ethics are essential to preparing our students for self-reliance and gainful employment,” Barr. Briggs said.

She further encouraged collaboration among staff to sustain academic standards and advance technical education in line with the vision of the Edo State Government.

The visit, she noted, underscores EdoBTVET’s commitment to continuous supervision, accountability, and institutional strengthening, in support of the SHINE Agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The statement was issued by Ebuanekpe Joy, Public Relations Officer, EdoBTVET.
