The National Women Leader of the NNU, Hon. Barr. Chief (Mrs) Cynthia Oputa-Governor, on Friday, 23 January 2026, led a vibrant delegation of Ndokwa Women on a large-scale sensitization tour aimed at boosting participation in the ongoing nationwide voters registration exercise across Ndokwa Nation in line with the noble and democratic vision of the first Lady of Delta State, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborovweri which anchored on full mobilization of women for the participation of competing democracy.

The sensitization campaign kicked off at Obiaruku Market in Ukwuani LGA, extended to Onicha-Ukwuani Market, and covered several surrounding communities. The tour drew significant attention as women were engaged directly in markets and public spaces on the importance of civic participation.

According to Hon. Barr. Chief (Mrs) Cynthia Oputa-Governor, the core objective of the exercise is to mobilize, educate, and encourage Ndokwa women to fully leverage the current voters registration window. She emphasized that voter registration is both a civic responsibility and a cultural obligation, critical to strengthening Ndokwa Nation’s voice in democratic governance.

Speaking during the exercise, the National Women Leader highlighted that:

Every eligible Ndokwa woman must come out en masse to register for a voter’s card.

The voter’s card represents true democratic equality, anchored on the principle of one person, one vote.

A voter’s card is a “meal ticket”, as it legitimizes citizens’ demands for fair representation and equitable access to public resources.

The ongoing registration exercise presents a strategic opportunity to significantly boost the Ndokwa vote-bank.

Current statistics of registered voters in Ndokwa Nation remain below expectation, despite the population strength and organizational capacity of Ndokwa women.

She further noted that Ndokwa women possess both the numerical strength and the mobilization capacity to place Ndokwa Nation on the front burner of democratic competition through massive voter registration.

The NNU Women Wing reaffirmed its commitment to sustained grassroots engagement until a substantial increase in registered voters is achieved across Ndokwa Nation.
