South African lifestyle influencer and adult content creator Leshaan Dagama has responded to claims that a viral video circulating online was artificially generated, disputing statements attributed to former Edo State governor and current senator, Adams Oshiomhole.
The video, which began trending on social media on Tuesday, shows a man who bears a resemblance to Oshiomhole seated with a woman, engaging in a light-hearted exchange while massaging her feet as they rested on his lap. The clip quickly drew widespread attention and commentary online.
The woman in the video was initially misidentified on social media as Lara Fortes, the wife of the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District. This claim has not been substantiated.
Multiple online users alleged that the video was first shared on TikTok by Dagama, who reportedly deleted the post shortly afterward. The footage sparked mixed reactions, with some Nigerians criticising what they perceived as a display of personal comfort at a time of ongoing economic challenges in the country.
Others referenced Oshiomhole’s recent public remarks suggesting that some citizens were complaining that food prices had become “too cheap,” using the viral clip as material for satire and criticism.
Reacting to the circulation of the video, Oshiomhole’s media aide, Oseni Momodu, released a statement denying that the incident ever occurred. The statement described the footage as a “poorly crafted AI-generated” video and condemned its circulation, accusing online platforms of spreading unverified content and engaging in cyberbullying.
The aide further stated that steps were being taken to identify those responsible for producing and distributing the video, while urging the public to verify information before making allegations against public officials.
However, Dagama later challenged the AI-generation claim via her Instagram story. In a brief, sarcastic post, she wrote, “Video wasn’t AI but okay believe your senator,” accompanied by a smiling emoji.
Earlier, she had also responded to criticism directed at her, urging social media users to focus their frustrations elsewhere. “Your senator is the problem. Go be mad at him not me,” she wrote in a previous post.
As of the time of filing this report, the authenticity of the video remains disputed, and no independent verification has been publicly presented by either party.
