The Chief Press Secretary to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, High Chief Festus Ahon, has been sworn in as a Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Delta State Government.
Ahon was inaugurated alongside 65 others during a ceremony organised by the State Ministry of Justice. The oath of office was administered by Justice M. Gesikeme at High Court 1, Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state. The presiding judge charged the newly sworn-in Justices of the Peace to promote and maintain peace in their respective communities.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the ceremony, Ahon expressed gratitude to God for the honour bestowed on him and pledged to continue contributing meaningfully to society.
He also thanked Governor Oborevwori for the recognition and for entrusting him with additional responsibilities. Ahon assured that he would not misuse the privilege but would remain committed to promoting peace and justice among his people.
According to him, the confidence reposed in him serves as a morale booster to join other community leaders in maintaining peace and order.
“I will not discharge the duties alone but will work with other well-meaning community leaders to ensure that peace is promoted to attract more government presence to my community,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Roma Communications and theromanews, Mr. Andrew Ohwobetehe, congratulated Ahon on his elevation as a Justice of the Peace.
In his congratulatory message, Ohwobetehe noted that the appointment did not come as a surprise, describing Ahon as someone deeply involved in community development and the promotion of tranquility. He prayed for God’s grace and wisdom for Ahon as he takes on his new responsibilities.
