The Lagos State Government on Monday hosted Miss Etiyemonu Esther, the One-Day Governor and overall winner of the 21st Lagos Spelling Bee Competition, at Lagos House, Marina.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Riddwane, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was seen formally handing over his seat to Esther, symbolically marking the commencement of her tenure as One-Day Governor.
Esther, a student of Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbokuta, clinched the prestigious title after emerging as the overall winner of the spelling bee competition in December 2025.
Announcing her visit in a statement posted on his verified X account on Monday, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed pride in the young scholar’s achievement.
“Today, I received Miss Etiyemonu Esther, the One Day Governor and overall winner of the 21st Lagos Spelling Bee Competition, a brilliant student of Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbokuta, at Lagos House, Marina,” the governor stated.
He commended Esther’s qualities, noting that her “confidence, focus, and hard work stand out,” and added that she represents the best of Lagos youth.
“Esther, all of Lagos is rooting for you and your bright future. Congratulations once again,” he said.
She was accompanied by the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Awoyemi Dorcas, and the One-Day Secretary to the State Government, Miss Salami Jumai Olaide, along with their parents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also applauded the creator of the One-Day Governor initiative, Oluremi Tinubu, for what he described as a lasting legacy that has produced several One-Day Governors in the state over the years.
