As Christians marked Ash Wednesday yesterday, Sr. Gina King called on the faithful to focus not merely on the outward sign of ashes but on a genuine transformation of the heart.
In her Ash Wednesday message, she reminded believers that the observance should go beyond the ashes placed on the forehead and reflect a sincere change of heart. “Life is temporary, but God’s mercy is eternal,” she noted, urging Christians to reflect on the deeper meaning of the Lenten season.
Describing Lent as an invitation, she encouraged the faithful to reflect, repent, grow, and return wholeheartedly to God.
Sr. King also prayed that the sacrifices and spiritual commitments undertaken during the 40-day season would bear fruit, expressing hope that prayers offered in this period would draw heaven closer to the faithful and their families.
She concluded by wishing everyone a blessed Ash Wednesday celebration.
