The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has called on Christians and residents across the state to embrace unity, hope, and renewed faith as they celebrate Easter.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the governor described Easter as a sacred season symbolizing sacrifice, love, redemption, and hope, as it marks the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Okpebholo urged Christians to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Christ, including humility, selflessness, and unwavering faith, noting that the season serves as a reminder of the triumph of light over darkness and life over death.

He encouraged residents of Edo State and Nigerians at large to remain hopeful and resilient despite current challenges, while promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect across religious and ethnic lines.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, economic development, and improving the welfare of citizens, stressing that collective effort is key to building a more prosperous and secure state.

“Let this Easter season inspire us to renew our faith in God and in one another, as we work together towards a better future for our dear state,” he said.

Okpebholo further called on citizens to use the Easter period to pray for continued peace, progress, and development in Edo State and Nigeria, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach.

He concluded by wishing Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
