A political commentator, Osaretin Eribo, has raised concerns over the evolving political dynamics within Edo State, warning that emerging alliances within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could have long-term implications for Governor Monday Okpebholo’s political structure.

In a statement made available to journalists, Eribo said the Governor must look beyond immediate political calculations and carefully consider the future impact of strengthening external political influences within the state.

According to him, recent political developments involving key figures in the APC have sparked conversations among observers about the growing influence of certain national actors in Edo politics.

Eribo noted that while many political stakeholders may currently view former governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as a major political factor within the state, attention should also be paid to emerging alliances involving other influential figures.

“The Governor must understand that politics is not only about today’s decisions but also about the long-term consequences of those decisions,” he stated.

He argued that political alliances built around influence and loyalty could eventually reshape internal party dynamics in Edo State if not properly managed.

The commentator also referenced ongoing discussions surrounding political relationships involving notable party stakeholders, including Omosede Ogbeide-Ihama, stressing that loyalty in politics is often influenced by those who create opportunities and provide support.

According to him, the Governor’s ability to maintain unity within the party and balance competing political interests will play a critical role in determining the future stability of the APC in Edo State.

Eribo further observed that political alliances are rarely permanent, noting that interests often determine the direction of relationships in politics.

He called on political leaders in the state to prioritize party cohesion, strategic engagement, and long-term stability over short-term political victories.

The comments come amid increasing political activities and realignments within Edo State ahead of future electoral contests.
