Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro has announced her withdrawal from the forthcoming primary election for the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, saying the decision was made in the interest of unity and progress within the political family.
Oboro made the announcement in a withdrawal notice issued ahead of the primary election scheduled for May 16, 2026.
According to her, the decision followed consultations and advice from the leader of the political family and Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori.
“Today I honorably and respectfully yielded to the best advice given to me by the leader of our great political family and party, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori,” she stated.
The former lawmaker explained that her withdrawal was aimed at promoting peace, unity, and the overall wellbeing of the people of Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Federal Constituency, whom she had intended to represent again at the National Assembly.
“For the unity, progress and greater wellbeing of the people of Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency which I have the intention to serve and represent again, I have withdrawn from participating in the primary election,” she added.
Oboro also expressed appreciation to her supporters, political associates, friends, and family members for their encouragement and prayers throughout her consultations and campaign activities.
“I am very grateful and thankful for your support, encouragement and prayers all the way since I started my consultations and campaigns,” she said.
Her withdrawal is expected to reshape the political dynamics ahead of the primary election in the constituency.
