Theme Scripture: James 1:17
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Thought for Today

Life itself is a good and perfect gift from our Heavenly Father. Every additional day we experience on earth is worthy of gratitude, thanksgiving, and reverence to God.

While we celebrate birthdays as milestones, we must also learn to celebrate each new day with heartfelt thanksgiving in the place of prayer. Our existence is not based on human effort or merit, but solely on the mercy of God.

As written in Romans 9:15–16 (AMP):
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. So then God’s choice is not dependent on human will or effort, but on God who shows mercy.”

Examples of God’s Good and Perfect Gifts

  1. Forgiveness of Sins
This gift restores peace with our Creator and brings transformation in lifestyle, direction, and relationships. The enabling power behind this transformation is grace—an eternal gift.
  2. Righteousness of God
This is a divine gift imparted through faith, empowering us to live set apart for God’s will, purpose, and ways.
  3. A Spirit-Filled Life
When our sins are forgiven and we receive God’s righteousness, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. This indwelling presence is a priceless gift that guides and empowers us.
  4. Supernatural Healing and Health
Healing and sustained health are privileges granted by God’s mercy. His gifts are inexhaustible and ever-abundant.

Above all, the gift of eternal life surpasses everything this world can offer. As recipients of this gift, we must guard it diligently.

Called to Shine as Light

Our Father is the Father of lights, unchanging and ever faithful. As His children, we are called to be lights in the world.

As Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:14–16:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Our light must shine first in our homes, then in our communities, workplaces, and the wider world.

Prayer

May the Lord of mercy empower us to shine brightly as lights in this world, in the mighty name of Yeshua, the Son of the Living God. Amen.
May He bless us, keep us, and cause His face to shine upon us continually, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer Points

  1. Offer thanksgiving, praise, and worship for the gift of life.
  2. Declare and personalize the truth of James 1:17 over your life.
  3. Ask for fresh grace to walk in new levels of God’s gifts.
  4. Pray for the grace to shine as the light of the world wherever you are.
  5. Intercede for missionaries in Mozambique, Central African Republic, Minna (Niger State, Nigeria), and around the world.
  6. Pray for Israel, the peace of Jerusalem, and the salvation of the Jewish people globally.
  7. Ask for God’s healing mercies upon the sick in hospitals and homes worldwide.

Pray for the leadership and vision of Intercessors for Nigeria.

Pray for your pastor and his family.

Shalom.
