Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 25 suspected illegal immigrants during a security operation in parts of the state, authorities have confirmed.

According to police sources, the individuals were apprehended following intelligence reports and routine security checks aimed at identifying undocumented foreigners and strengthening public safety.

During preliminary interrogation, some of the suspects reportedly told investigators that they were in Nigeria to attend a religious crusade. However, police said further investigations are underway to verify their identities, immigration status and the circumstances surrounding their entry into the country.

The suspects are currently being screened, while relevant immigration authorities have been notified to assist in determining their legal status and possible violations of immigration laws.

Police authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining security across Lagos and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

The command added that anyone found to have violated Nigeria’s immigration regulations would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
