The President of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOS) Alumni, Auchi Polytechnic, Barrister Lawani Andrew, has emphasized the importance of unity, love and mutual support among association members, friends and former classmates, describing such fellowship as a biblical injunction.
Barrister Andrew made the call during the birthday celebration of the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, held at the Civil Service Club, GRA, Benin City, Edo State. The event also served as a reunion for members of the 1993 “Aluminum” Class.
Congratulating the celebrant, Barrister Andrew commended Nwaeke for bringing together his former classmates and fostering enduring relationships despite the passage of time.
According to him, the gathering reflected the values of friendship, unity and gratitude, adding that Nwaeke’s life and achievements have earned him God’s favour.
“Nkem Nwaeke is undoubtedly a good man. He is also blessed with a God-fearing and supportive wife who truly exemplifies the qualities of a virtuous woman,” he said.
He encouraged the celebrant to remain steadfast in his commitment to God, his association, his friends and humanity, urging him to continue impacting lives positively.
Responding, Mr. Nwaeke expressed profound gratitude to God for preserving his life and blessing him with another year.
He thanked family, friends and classmates for honouring his invitation and sharing in his joy.
“On behalf of my dear wife and family, I sincerely appreciate every member of the Class of 1993 and all our guests who came to celebrate with us. Your presence has made this occasion truly memorable,” he said.
Mrs. Nwaeke also returned all glory to God for His faithfulness and abundant grace upon their family.
“We give all the glory to God Almighty for His wonderful works in our lives. To everyone who took time to celebrate with us, may the Lord richly bless you,” she said.
Speaking with journalists after the event, a member of the Class of 1993, Dr. James-Wisdom Abhulimen, reflected on the enduring bond among classmates.
“It feels like yesterday when we were students. Time has indeed flown, and today we are grateful to God for how far He has brought us. Nkem Nwaeke’s birthday has once again reunited us, strengthening the bond we have shared over the years,” he said.
The celebration featured entertainment, networking and goodwill messages, with members of the Class of 1993 joining other guests in a toast and a rendition of the traditional ‘Happy Birthday’ song in honour of the celebrant.
