ABUJA – Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has been elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), emerging victorious in the association’s national election conducted by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA).
The Chairman of the ECNBA, Aham Ejelam, announced the results at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja on Sunday following the conclusion of the electronic voting process.
According to the official results, Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 percent of the total votes cast, to defeat her closest rival, Lateef Akangbe (SAN), who polled 7,934 votes, representing 30.39 percent.
Her victory marks a significant milestone for the Nigerian Bar Association as she becomes the 33rd President of the country’s foremost body of legal practitioners.
The election, which attracted participation from lawyers across Nigeria, was conducted under the supervision of the ECNBA, with the committee affirming the credibility of the process before declaring Badejo-Okusanya duly elected.
Badejo-Okusanya is expected to assume office at the end of the tenure of the outgoing NBA leadership and will steer the affairs of the association for the next administration.
