Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple, the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has alleged that he was brutally assaulted by more than 70 men during the Delta Central All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Effurun.

In an interview with ARISE News, Mudi claimed the attack left him with multiple injuries, including a head wound that required 11 stitches. He further alleged that a serving commissioner orchestrated the assault, though the allegation has not been independently verified.

According to Mudi, the incident occurred after he received information that a large group had allegedly been mobilised against him. He said he was on his way to get food when he was ambushed.

“They started breaking bottles everywhere, stabbing me from the back and everywhere. I couldn’t even defend myself,” he alleged.

He added that the attackers fled the scene as people rushed to intervene.

Mudi also linked the incident to an earlier alleged attack at a burial ceremony in Okwagbe, where he claimed more than 24 men were involved.

Calling for justice, he questioned how such a large group could allegedly attack a single individual without consequence.

“How can over 70 boys attack one person? It was a terrible thing to do,” he said.

The alleged assault occurred during the APC stakeholders’ meeting attended by prominent party leaders, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, Senator Ede Dafinone, and other senior party officials.

As of the time of filing this report, the commissioner accused by Mudi has not issued official response to the allegation.

The claims also remain independently unverified.
