The Edo State Government House Chapel has commenced a seven-day prayer and fasting exercise aimed at seeking divine protection, wisdom, peace and prosperity for Governor Monday Okpebholo, his administration and the people of the state.

The spiritual exercise, which began on Monday, August 10, and will run through Sunday, August 16, 2026, is being held daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. under the theme, “There Shall Not Be Loss,” drawn from Acts 27:22, Deuteronomy 33:6 and Isaiah 28:18.

The exercise is being organised with a call for participation by religious groups, ministers, clergymen, members of the Edo State Government House Chapel, government functionaries and civil servants across the state.

According to the invitation signed by Apostle (Dr.) Sule Faraday Azekhumen, JP, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters and Chaplain of the Edo State Government House Chapel, the exercise is intended to bring people together in faith, unity and spiritual intercession.

Azekhumen said participants would seek the face of God for the protection and preservation of Governor Monday Okpebholo, his working team and the people of Edo State.

He urged participants to pray for divine protection, preservation, wisdom, peace, victory and the continued prosperity of the state.

The spiritual exercise is anchored on the biblical assurance in Psalm 121:8: “The Lord shall preserve his going out and his coming in.”

The organisers, however, advised people who are unable to undertake physical fasting due to health reasons not to participate in the fast, but to join the prayer sessions and engage in spiritual intercession according to their strength and medical needs.

The seven-day exercise is expected to provide a platform for Christians and other invited religious stakeholders to unite in prayer for the leadership, peace, security and overall wellbeing of Edo State.
