Ifeoma Igbotic has dismissed as fake an AI-generated image allegedly showing her with Senator Ned Nwoko, which she said has been circulating on social media.
In a public notice, Igbotic said the image was completely fabricated and did not represent any real event involving her and the senator.
She explained that the original photographs she took with Nwoko were genuine pictures captured during her visit, but alleged that the image currently being circulated online had been digitally manipulated.
“I have no knowledge of, or connection to, the creation or circulation of this fabricated image,” Igbotic said.
She urged members of the public who come across the image not to believe or share it as an authentic photograph, warning that advances in artificial intelligence now make it possible to create highly convincing images of events that never occurred.
According to her, the circulating image was an example of how AI-generated content could be used to create false narratives and mislead the public.
Igbotic said she remained focused on her work and advocacy and would not allow what she described as a fabricated image to distract from issues that matter to her.
She therefore called on the public to disregard the image and rely on the original photographs and verified information concerning her visit with Senator Ned Nwoko.
