President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her for standing by him through the different seasons of their lives.
In a birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the years they have spent together, highlighting the First Lady’s patience, courage, faith and compassion.
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage,” the President said.
Quoting a Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” which means “A good wife is her husband’s crown,” Tinubu said Oluremi had given the words practical meaning throughout their marriage.
He described her as a source of counsel and comfort, saying she often knew when he needed advice even before he asked.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President also praised the First Lady for her commitment to humanitarian causes, noting her involvement in initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians.
According to Tinubu, her humanitarian work spans from the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos to the Renewed Hope Initiative, which he said has reached young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country.
He also acknowledged her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a compassionate advocate and determined champion.
Tinubu said Oluremi’s compassion had not been limited by “tribe, region or religion,” adding that he had witnessed her offer assistance to people she had never met.
Reflecting on their journey together, the President said their marriage had endured difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you,” Tinubu said. “Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you.”
The President concluded his message by thanking the First Lady for the life and love they had built together and praying for many more years of good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” he said.
