The collection covers media law, investigative reporting, newsroom ethics, professional credibility and the safe reporting of crime, security and vulnerable people.
Nigerian journalist Pius Omang Nsabe has unveiled a seven-book journalism collection designed to equip aspiring and practising reporters with practical knowledge and skills for navigating the demands of the profession.
The collection, which features Media Law and Ethics in Nigeria: The Reporter’s Survival Manual, described in the promotional material as a bestseller, is aimed at journalism students, graduates, independent reporters, campus journalists, community media practitioners and others seeking to build careers in the news industry.
According to the author, the collection was developed to address the practical challenges confronting emerging journalists, particularly those who lack access to newsroom mentorship and professional guidance.
The seven titles cover key areas of journalism practice, including media law, investigative reporting, ethical decision-making, news reporting, professional credibility and the protection of vulnerable people.
The books are Media Law and Ethics in Nigeria: The Reporter’s Survival Manual; Becoming an Investigative Journalist: A Field Manual for Nigerian Reporters; Walking Around the Trap in Journalism: A Practical Guide to Media Law, Ethics and Safer Reporting; and Journalism for Beginners: Principles, Practice and Reflections From My Perspective.
The collection also includes The Respected Journalist: How to Build Trust, Credibility and Influence Before the Byline Comes; The Newsroom Handbook for Reporting Children, Survivors & Vulnerable People: The FROSTS Code; and How to Report Crime, Security and Tragedy: A Practical Guide to Accuracy, Verification, Ethics and Safety.
The books are intended to provide readers with practical guidance on verifying information, cross-checking sources, accessing public records, avoiding defamation, understanding legal risks and reporting sensitive issues responsibly.
They also address the importance of accuracy, credibility and ethical conduct in a media environment where journalists are increasingly expected to deliver reliable information while navigating legal, professional and safety challenges.
Nsabe, who says he has spent 15 years working as a reporter, editor and news manager across media organisations, including Radio Nigeria, said he established P.O.N Journalism Lab in response to what he identified as a gap in practical journalism training for emerging Nigerian reporters.
The initiative seeks to provide resources that can help aspiring journalists develop foundational reporting skills and enable practising media professionals to strengthen their newsroom performance.
The collection is being offered at a promotional price of ₦10,500 for all seven books, while individual titles are available for ₦1,500 each, according to the promotional announcement.
The books are available in PDF format and are advertised for delivery through WhatsApp.
With topics ranging from the fundamentals of journalism to investigative reporting and media law, the collection is positioned as a practical resource for readers seeking to improve their reporting skills and deepen their understanding of professional journalism in Nigeria.
