President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah, in the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, offering prayers for sustainable peace, national unity, security and prosperity in Nigeria.
The President carried out the spiritual exercise early Friday morning at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, where he circumambulated the Holy Ka’abah in an act of worship, devotion and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah.
According to a statement issued on Friday, October 30, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu used the occasion to express gratitude to God for His blessings on Nigeria and its citizens while seeking divine guidance and protection for the country.
Speaking with journalists shortly after completing the religious exercise, the President described the Umrah as significant, saying it reflected his love for Nigerians, commitment to national service and faith in the will of Almighty Allah.
He said: “I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail, and that there’s no other God but Him and He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life.”
Tinubu disclosed that prayers were offered for peace, harmony, happiness and stronger faith among Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and social backgrounds.
He also prayed for divine wisdom for the country’s leaders, stronger national unity and lasting solutions to insecurity and other challenges confronting the nation.
“I am grateful to Allah for being able to perform this Umrah. We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” the President was quoted as saying.
