By JOHNSON EBIGIDE, Asaba

Eugene Azuka Uzum has enjoined Delta State Government to rekindle job creation efforts by creating a better structured youth Empowerment module in the state.

Uzum, a lawyer, public analyst and youth advocate, stated this against the observable lull in job creation as introduced by the immediate past administration through the Job Creation Office in the state.

He noted that several job creation programmes that empowered very many youths, making most of them not only self-employed but employers of labour, appeared not taken seriously in the state.

While commending the state government for still keeping the job creation office in the state, Uzum maintained that deliberate efforts should be tailored to key into the need to create properly structured empowerment modules for the youths in the state, adding that it was necessary in tackling the worsening economic situation in the country.

He said that giving very many youths appointments in the state government was commendable, but also counterproductive, noting that such an effort may send wrong signals among the youths who, according to him, might not be interested in skill acquisition but in appointment offers.

He wondered why job creation, considered as one of the biggest legacies of the immediate past administration is being jettisoned in the state.
