The Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Professor Victor Olawale Adetimirin, has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Plant Breeders Association (NPBA) and elected as its President.

 

The recognition came during the Association’s 3rd International Conference held 24th–25th September 2025 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, themed “Crop Improvement for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and the Environment”.

 

Professor Adetimirin was honoured for his remarkable contributions to plant breeding and agricultural development.

 

In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to members for their trust and pledged that NPBA will promote improved research collaboration among members, research institutes and seed companies; ensure that young plant breeders in the Association are equipped with cutting-edge technologies; and continue to advocate for policies that have potential to upscale Nigeria’s agricultural development towards attaining food security, improved livelihoods and sustainable production systems in Nigeria and other counties in Africa.
