A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afolabi Olayiwola, has drawn widespread commendation following an act of philanthropy toward a schoolgirl in Ehor, Edo State.
The legal practitioner, who is based in Benin City, was said to have visited a secondary school in the community where he encountered a student who had been sent home over unpaid school fees.
According to reports, Olayiwola intervened by taking the student back to the school authorities and settling her outstanding fees. He was also said to have instructed the school management not to demand further payments from the girl’s parents until she completes her secondary education.
In addition, the senior lawyer reportedly pledged to sponsor the student’s education through the university level, a move described by many as life-changing.
The gesture has since attracted widespread reactions from members of the public, with many praising the lawyer’s sustained commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals in society.
Several individuals who reacted to the development commended Olayiwola’s philanthropic efforts, offering prayers and words of encouragement. Some described him as a compassionate figure whose actions have positively impacted many lives over the years, while others urged well-meaning Nigerians to emulate such generosity.
Observers note that the intervention highlights the role of private individuals in supporting access to education, particularly for underprivileged children.
