Edo ALGON directs officials to wear Tinubu-branded caps to meetings

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in Edo State, Sunny Ekpeson, on Saturday instructed all 18 local government chairmen to ensure that their officials wear customised caps featuring President Bola Tinubu’s insignia during official meetings at council secretariats.

This follows a directive by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on October 16, 2025, requiring members of his cabinet to publicly demonstrate support for President Tinubu by wearing branded outfits displaying the president’s emblem.

Okpebholo, who credited his electoral win to Tinubu’s backing, emphasised that loyalty to the president should be visible in officials’ attire. “This could not have happened if we did not have a responsible president. We have done many elections here, and the major problem we have had is that the president is not with us, but today we say thank you,” he said.

The directive, confirmed in a statement by Ekpeson’s media aide, Agbukor Lucky Apeakhuye, covers supervisory councillors, senior special assistants (SSAs), and special assistants (SAs).

He said the move is part of efforts to visibly demonstrate grassroots solidarity with President Tinubu’s administration and political vision.

Speaking on the rationale behind the order, the ALGON chairman stated that the initiative stems from the message of political alignment recently reinforced by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpehbolo
