Airtel Nigeria has announced a temporary suspension of its airtime and data credit services, which previously allowed eligible prepaid subscribers to borrow and repay on their next recharge.
Despite the pause, the company assured customers that regular airtime and data purchases remain fully available through its existing platforms, with no disruption to general service delivery.
According to Airtel Nigeria, the move is part of an operational review aimed at aligning with evolving regulatory and compliance requirements. The company emphasized that the suspension will not significantly affect its overall service quality nationwide.
Speaking on the decision, the Director of Marketing, Ismail Adeshina, described it as a necessary and responsible step. He reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance, transparency, and consumer protection, while continuing to support innovation within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
Airtel Nigeria also noted that it will provide further updates as developments unfold.
