President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting him the opportunity to lead Nigeria, declaring that political power belongs to God, who can give it to one person and transfer it to another.
The President made the remarks while offering prayers at the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he thanked Almighty Allah for the privilege of serving as Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
Tinubu said he had sought divine wisdom, strength and resilience to continue steering the affairs of the country, expressing his belief that leadership and political authority ultimately rest in the hands of God.
According to the President, Allah is the ultimate giver and taker of power, and those entrusted with authority must exercise it in accordance with His will.
“Allah is the giver and the taker. He owns power. He says, use it well. If you don’t use it in accordance with my dictates, I can take it from you and give it to another person. I am the only God who has that authority. I have faith in that,” Tinubu said.
The President also recalled seeking divine intervention ahead of the 2023 general elections, expressing confidence that the same Almighty Allah who granted him the opportunity to lead the country would continue to guide him in discharging his responsibilities.
“For the task ahead of me, I asked God to give me the wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people,” he stated.
Tinubu acknowledged Nigeria’s diversity and the enormous responsibilities associated with governing the country, stressing that his commitment to national development remained strong.
He further declared that his determination to move Nigeria forward was anchored on his faith in Allah and the support of Nigerians.
“Nigeria is divergent and prior to the 2023 elections, I did the same thing and mighty Allah granted me same. He’s the giver and the taker. He owns the universe,” the President said.
Reaffirming his commitment to the country’s development, Tinubu maintained that he remained focused on building a stronger Nigeria in line with his faith and the aspirations of the people.
“I have faith in Him and my commitment to the project Nigeria is higher, determined to develop the country consistently with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” he added.
The President also expressed optimism about the country’s economic direction, describing the foundation being laid by his administration as solid and insisting that Nigeria’s economy had emerged from difficult times.
He said the priority should now be to consolidate the gains, invest in the future and create better opportunities for Nigerian youths.
“The foundation is solid and the economy has come out of the dark tunnels, inspiring and we need to invest the future for our youths. I’m not looking for anything else,” Tinubu stated.
The President’s prayers at the Ka’abah underscore his expression of gratitude for the opportunity to serve and his appeal for continued divine guidance as he leads Nigeria through its economic and developmental challenges.
