Sen(Chief) Dr. Ighoyota Amori, the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State and a respected leader in Urhobo Nation, has congratulated Olorogun Barr. Ese Gam Owe on his remarkable re-election as President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Urhobo people.
In a statement released on Saturday 6, December 2025, Amori described the victory of Barr. Ese Gam Owe as a clear endorsement of his outstanding leadership over the last four years, noting that the Urhobo Nation has once again demonstrated unity, maturity, and collective purpose in choosing continuity.
He said Barr. Owe’s first tenure brought visible progress to UPU and strengthened the bond among Urhobo sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora. According to Amori, the President-General has shown commitment, humility, and a deep passion for the advancement of Urhobo interests.
He praised Owe for maintaining peace across UPU structures, promoting unity among the 24 kingdoms, and sustaining the cultural heritage of the Urhobo people through well-planned programmes and engagements.
Senator Amori also extended his warm congratulations to all other newly elected executives of the UPU. He expressed confidence that the new team will support the President-General to achieve even greater success in the next four years.
While calling for unity from all sides, especially those who contested the elections or have significant interest in the affairs of UPU, Amori said the time for competition is over and the time for collective service has begun.
He urged everyone to join hands with Barr. Ese Gam Owe to build a stronger Urhobo Nation, stressing that progress comes when leaders and followers work together with one voice.
“UPU belongs to all of us,” he said. “Election is only a process. Now that the process is completed, what our people need is unity, understanding, and the spirit of brotherhood. We must work together to move the Urhobo Nation forward.”
Amori prayed for God’s wisdom and guidance upon the President-General and his executives as they begin another term dedicated to service, unity, and the continued growth of the Urhobo Nation.
