As part of heightened security measures ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State, the state police command has received advanced tactical support from the Force Headquarters to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this on Sunday in Awka while receiving the tactical teams deployed to strengthen security operations across the state.
According to Orutugu, the deployment — approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun — is part of the Force’s strategic plan to reinforce local formations with additional personnel and cutting-edge surveillance equipment, including helicopters and drones for aerial monitoring.
“The aerial surveillance will complement ongoing land patrols by tactical units, intelligence operatives, and police special squads strategically deployed across all 21 local government areas of the state,” the CP said.
Orutugu commended the Inspector-General for his unwavering commitment to ensuring safety and stability in Anambra State, adding that the police remain fully prepared to safeguard lives and property throughout the election period.
