KANO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a major boost in Kano State following the defection of former Kano State Governor and former Senator representing Kano South, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, popularly known as Mai Al-Ummah, alongside Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, associates of former governorship candidate Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, and more than 100,000 supporters from various political parties.

The mass defection took place at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, where thousands of APC supporters and party faithful gathered to receive the defectors.

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who joined other party leaders and supporters at the event, described the development as a major boost for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Yilwatda, the large turnout and enthusiasm displayed by supporters demonstrated that the APC was expanding its political base and consolidating its position in Kano State.

“The sheer size, enthusiasm and energy of the gathering were unmistakable: the APC is expanding, consolidating and growing stronger in Kano,” Yilwatda said.

He described the gathering as more than a political rally, saying the development represented a strong indication of the direction of political momentum in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections.

Yilwatda said the entry of prominent political figures and their supporters into the APC would further strengthen the party’s structures and broaden its support base across the state.

He declared that the development had sent a clear message ahead of the next general elections, saying, “APC is ready. Kano is ready. Nigeria is ready.”

The APC leader called on party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s agenda as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.

He concluded with the party’s campaign slogan, “Renewed Hope, Stronger Together,” while urging members to continue working towards the party’s political objectives.
