Senator Ede Dafinone has expressed gratitude to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his victory at the party’s Delta Central Senatorial Primary Election, while calling for unity and stronger collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after emerging victorious in the primary held across the eight local government areas of Delta Central Senatorial District, Dafinone described the exercise as transparent, peaceful, free and fair, noting that the process reflected the true democratic spirit of the APC.

The senator thanked Almighty God for what he described as a defining moment for both the party and the people of Delta Central, adding that he remains humbled by the confidence reposed in him by delegates and party faithful.

“I stand deeply humbled, profoundly grateful, and fully committed to the responsibility entrusted to me through this resounding victory,” Dafinone stated.

He commended the conduct of the primaries, stressing that despite Delta Central being a highly political environment, the peaceful outcome demonstrated that democracy remains strong within the APC.

Dafinone also paid glowing tribute to the Executive Governor of Delta State and leader of the APC in the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his role in promoting unity, stability and peaceful coexistence within the party.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and commitment to a peaceful process further strengthened the confidence of party members in the APC.

The senator equally appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as inspiring national leadership, while thanking the APC National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee and the APC National Assembly Primary Committee for ensuring a level playing field during the exercise.

He further acknowledged the contributions of party elders, women, youths, stakeholders and supporters across the district, describing the victory as a collective achievement for all loyal party members committed to the progress and unity of Delta Central.

Dafinone specifically commended the professionalism displayed by the APC National Assembly Primary Committee, including the Collation Officer, Hon. Dr. Okiemute E. Benjamin, the committee secretary, Barr. Nusa Amagbor, and committee member, Abimbola Samuel Dart, for ensuring transparency and due process throughout the exercise.

He revealed that he secured a total of 116,252 votes across the eight local government areas, which he said reflected the confidence of party members in his vision for Delta Central.

“I accept this mandate with humility and a deep sense of responsibility to serve with integrity, courage and dedication,” he said.

In a move seen as a call for reconciliation within the party, Dafinone extended a hand of fellowship to former Deputy Senate President and APC leader, Ovie Omo-Agege, urging him and his supporters to work together for the success of the APC in future elections.

“Elections and primaries may come with competition, but at the end of the day, we remain members of one political family with a shared vision for the advancement of Delta State and Nigeria,” he stated.

The senator reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, economic growth, empowerment, security and policies that would uplift the people of Delta Central and contribute to national development.

He concluded by thanking party members, supporters and Urhobo leaders for their continued trust and support, assuring them that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
